Hartsville’s

Future

Starts Here

When downtown thrives, the whole community rises.

Through revitalization efforts, small business support, and local partnerships, Main Street Hartsville is helping create a thriving and inclusive downtown. Our work supports residents, attracts visitors, and drives economic growth. Every storefront, mural, and event reflects our commitment to building a stronger Hartsville for everyone.

The Main Street Hartsville program is supported by the City of Hartsville and Main Street South Carolina, a program of the National Main Street Center.

Our Mission

Strengthening the

Heart of Hartsville

Downtown Priorities & Partnerships

Define Downtown
Hartsville

Downtown Hartsville has a long history of historic preservation and maintaining a clean appearance. These principles have helped our downtown remain the heart of Hartsville. As the City Council has supported Main Street Hartsville as the champion of Downtown Hartsville, it is imperative that we clearly define who and what Main Street Hartsville is, including the boundaries, and how we tie in the surrounding overlays into Downtown Hartsville with attractive and complementary entryways.

Town & Gown Relationship

Main Street Hartsville is bordered by Coker University and the SC Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics, which brings over 4,000 students, faculty, and staff to Downtown Hartsville daily.

It is crucial that these visitors and residents be engaged and invested in the success of Downtown Hartsville as we work to make their time in Hartsville a wonderful experience.

Small Business Development

Main Street Hartsville must continue to make a focused and concerted effort to retain and recruit downtown businesses, foster resiliency, and assist entrepreneurs through the business cycle through resource provision.

Downtown Hartsville has also positioned itself as a leading destination in the region for quality shopping, dining, culture, and entertainment. It is critical that we work to maintain and enhance our reputation as leaders in these areas.

Historic Preservation

Main Street Hartsville supports the preservation and continued growth of Downtown Hartsville’s historic district and public spaces.

We encourage both public and private partners to recognize the value of our historic character, and we assist in the thoughtful preservation, enhancement, and reuse of these treasured places.
