October will be a busy month for the downtown Hartsville Farmers Market as the schedule calls for the return of the popular Paper Shred and E-Waste Recycling Day, sponsored by SPC Credit Union, and will also feature Fierce Dance Academy’s Halloween Reveal Party and Unveiling Performance. This month’s Farmers Market is taking place at 100 E. Carolina Ave. from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Vintage Craft Beer and Wine Boutique’s Oktoberfest will begin at its location on East College Avenue, 12 to 6 p.m. the same day.
The Paper Shred and E-Waste Recycling Day, made possible by SPC Credit Union, will take place in the parking lot of the Hartsville YMCA from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The free event will give local residents an opportunity to have papers shredded for free by Shur Shred secure document destruction, and also bring in computers and cell phones. Other large electronic devices may also be accepted, so long as they have a cord, except for refrigerators, air conditioners, or other items which use Freon. For more information, contact City of Hartsville Environmental Services at 843.383.3019.
Additionally, Fierce Dance Academy will use the day to stage a reveal of its Halloween window decoration theme for its location at 125 N. Fifth St., along with a celebratory performance by its dancers at the Farmers Market at 10 a.m. Since its opening, Fierce Dance Academy has been a regular contributor to downtown Hartsville window displays, including an elaborate “Wizard of Oz”-themed display, titled “We’re Not in Kansas Anymore,” during the Halloween 2014 season.
Beginning at noon one block away, Vintage Craft Beer and Wine Boutique will host its annual Oktoberfest celebration. The event at 109 E. College Ave. will run through 6 p.m., bringing together authentic German beers, food, outdoor games and live music.
