Hartsville concertgoers will get one more opportunity this fall to show some local love with the last of the Concerts on College Ave. on Thursday, Oct. 23, featuring blues rock group Skymonk, sponsored by First Citizens Bank, Vintage Craft Beer and Wine Boutique and Lulu’s Clothing Boutique. This free concert finale will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. on East College Avenue in downtown Hartsville.

Skymonk is a Columbia-based alternative blues rock band that was formed by Kelly Nash (guitars, vocals), Scott Roberts (bass guitar, vocals), Ben Evans (drums). After playing many shows in Columbia and making numerous local and regional radio appearances including WUSC, The Palm and WXRY, Skymonk is now making an East Coast tour this fall to support their latest EP release.

Skymonk’s influences come from many sources, but the band focuses mostly on rock, blues and alternative music. Taking elements of groups including Mutemath and the John Butler Trio, the band compiles energetic, melodic rock, syncopated rhythms and soaring melodies in a way that moves and connects them with their audience.

This last date in Main Street Hartsville’s fall concert series will feature pizza from Sophia’s Pizzeria for sale alongside drinks from Vintage Craft Beer and Wine Boutique. Downtown businesses with extended hours for the concert will include Nana’s Play Zone, Lulu’s Clothing Boutique as well as Klick N Flair, all of which are located on East College Avenue. Florence-Darlington Technical College Hartsville’s student club, the Swarm, will provide concert site children’s activities, including sidewalk chalk drawing and hula hooping.
